I make this style of bowl by layering small amounts of coloured casting slip (liquid porcelain) into a plaster mould before I fill it completely with white porcelain. This results in rolling layers of colour with unique hills and valleys. No two bowls will ever be the same.

I leave the exterior of the of the piece unglazed, but I sand it multiple times to create a soft, supple surface just waiting to be touched. While the interior is glazed clear, to keep it completely functional and food safe.
